Cristina Lopez is a Texas native who joined the USMC while in college and will tell you that she chose the USMC over the Peace Corps because the “Marine Corps would teach her to shoot weapons and she will still have time to join the Peace Corps later”. At the Pentagon, Cristina splits her time between HQMC Aviation and CFP.
Cristina first discovered Crossfit while stationed at Cherry Point, NC and was hooked immediately after only just poking her head into the local box to see what all the hype was about. Her first workout was “Cindy” and she freely admits to not having the upper body strength to complete a single dead-hang pull-up (back then). Today is a much different story for Cristina as a regular member at CFP and one of our stellar performers. One of the many reasons that Cristina was an obvious choice for the coaches was her resilience and dedication to the CFP team in spite of her broken ankle and fibula. She hasn’t missed a beat in her recovery process and has attacked here fitness goals with renewed vigor.
Cristina’s favorite workouts (fitting for a Marine) are the Bear Complex and those WODs that involve heavy lifting.
Congrats, Cristina! Keep working hard and motivating the CFP family.
